Day Camp Crossovers
We are proud to offer four weeks of resident camp to Scouts BSA attending with their troop or by themselves! Provisional campers attending without their troop will be grouped together and form camp troops. Campers attending with their troop should register through their troop reservation.
Trailblazer Day Camp at Camp Somers is a Scouts BSA summer camp week-long adventure. The summer camp program is for all Scouts including both first-year new Scouts and experienced higher ranking Scouts. Scouts have the ability to choose to work on rank advancement or merit badges, as well as participate in high adventure programs throughout camp. Camp runs four weeks, Monday to Friday from 8:45 am – 4:00 pm. Scouts are welcome at camp for more than one week and accomplish many of their Scouting goals. Bus transportation is provided from locations throughout Morris, Sussex and NW Somerset counties.

Dan Beard Program
The Dan Beard program at Camp Somers is a great option for first year/new Scouts that have not been to camp before. This program helps scouts work on rank advancements, explore camp, and more! Both resident campers and Trailblazers can enroll for this program, by selecting "Dan Beard" as for their class option.
Specialty Weeks are another great way to experience resident camp. Come to Camp Somers and experience a week of camp with a focus on some of your favorite activities!

RANGE & TARGET Week - Week 3 July 19 - July 25
Scouts will have a BLAST at Range & Target Activities Week at Camp Somers!
Get ready to elevate your skills with Archer Jones, a retired State Police captain bringing 30 years of real-world range experience to camp. Whether you're new to range & target activities or looking to sharpen your abilities, this week is packed with hands-on opportunities and expert instruction.
Throughout the week, Scouts can work toward earning levels in the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program (MQP) across rifle, shotgun, and muzzleloading rifle disciplines—building confidence, precision, and safety skills every step of the way.
On the archery range, Scouts will refine their bow skills while working toward USA Archery awards. Plus, they’ll get the chance to test their aim with the exciting Laporte action archery machine!
But that’s not all—down the hill, adventure continues at the tomahawk and knife throwing range, where Scouts will learn the techniques and fundamentals of these classic throwing sports.
And to top it all off, there’s a special surprise throwing activity reserved exclusively for specialty week participants on the final day—you won’t want to miss it!
ADVENTURE Week - Week 4 July 26 - August 1
This isn’t just camp — it’s your chance to push your limits, build confidence, and become part of an epic outdoor crew.
Learn backpacking skills with an overnight trek! Ride the rapids on the Lehigh River. Climb our rock face wall or summit our climbing wall!
This one week camp is perfect for youth looking for a great adventurous week!
New this Year! Each camper must complete a BSA Annual Health and Medical Form via CampDoc before their first day of camp. You will recieve information via email regarding creating a CampDoc profile upon completing the summer camp registration.
ATV Information and Requirements:
1. The Participation and Hold Harmless Agreement (see above).
2. The Waiver and Indemnification Agreement (see above)
3. Complete the free ASI E-Course and bring the printed certificate to camp.
Shane is a dedicated and service-driven leader with a strong foundation in Scouting America, recognized as an Eagle Scout, Quartermaster, Summit Award recipient, and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He shares his experience in outdoor leadership, youth mentorship, and program operations through roles as the Assistant Ranger for PPC Camps and Shooting Sports Director for the past two years.

Ryan has been in the Scouting program for as long as he can remember. From the Pinewood Derby days as a Cub Scout, to the Backcountry of New Mexico at Philmont Scout Ranch, Ryan has always loved an adventure in the outdoors. Ryan has served on National Youth Leadership Training staff for four summers, and for the past two summers, he has worked at Camp Somers as the Director of Scoutcraft!
