Camp Somers: 5 Weeks of Trailblazer Day Camp

Trailblazer Day Camp, located at Camp Somers in beautiful and historic Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope, NJ, is a Scouts BSA summer camp week-long adventure. The Trailblazer program is an all-inclusive program available to non-Scouts as well. It is our hope that the positive and beneficial experience they have during their time at Camp Somers, makes a lasting impact as well as sparks an interest in the Scouts BSA program

The Trailblazer Day Camp program is for all Scouts BSA, including both first-year new Scouts and experienced higher ranking Scouts. Scouts have the ability to choose to work on rank advancement, merit badges as well as participate in high adventure programs throughout camp.

Camp runs for five weekly sessions, Monday to Friday from 8:45 am – 4:00 pm. Scouts can come to camp for more than one week and accomplish many of their Scouting goals.

Who Attends Trailblazer Day Camp?

First Year Scouts BSA

Trailblazers can be first year Scouts who are either not ready for a resident camp experience, or they want a taste of BSA summer camp before committing to a week of resident camping with their troop.

Older Scouts BSA

Trailblazers can be older Scouts who want to be at camp to work on merit badges, complete partials or work on advancement. Older Scouts often come to day camp because they have evening activities or commitments that do not allow them to stay overnight.

Scouts BSA Who Want An Additional Week of Fun

Other Scouts come to camp as a Trailblazer or overnight camper then sign up for an additional week of Trailblazer day camp to continue having fun! The Trailblazer program for all Scouts BSA provides a unique and customized camp experience based on each individual Scout’s needs.
