Day Camp

Trailblazer Day Camp

Trailblazer Day Camp, located at Camp Somers in beautiful and historic Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope, NJ, is a Boy Scouts summer camp week-long adventure.

The Trailblazer Day Camp program is for all Boy Scouts, including both first-year new Scouts and experienced higher ranking Boy Scouts. Campers have the ability to choose to work on rank advancement, merit badges as well as participate in high adventure programs throughout camp.

Camp runs for four weekly sessions, Monday to Friday from 8:45 am – 4:00 pm, July 8 through August 2, 2019. Scouts can come to camp for more than one week and accomplish many of their Scouting goals. Bus transportation, included in the fee, is provided from locations throughout Morris, Sussex and NW Somerset counties.

We welcome all Boy Scouts regardless of age or rank to participate in as many weeks as they would like. We encourage Scouts to sign up for as many weeks as they want to and a customized program can be developed each week.

Who Are Our Campers?

First Year Boy Scouts

Trailblazers can be first year Boy Scouts who are either not ready for a resident camp experience, or they want a taste of BSA summer camp before committing to a week of resident camping with their troop.

Older Boy Scouts

Trailblazers can be older Boy Scouts who want to be at camp to work on merit badges, complete partials or work on advancement. Older Boy Scouts often come to day camp because they have evening activities or commitments that do not allow them to stay overnight.

Boy Scouts Who Want An Additional Week of Fun

Other Boy Scouts come to camp as a Trailblazer or overnight camper then sign up for an additional week of Trailblazer day camp to continue having fun! The Trailblazer program for all Boy Scouts provides a unique and customized camp experience based on each individual Scout’s needs.
