With new changes to the New Jersey guidelines for social distancing, Patriots' Path Council is proud to offer Scouts of all ages the chance to return the outdoors. Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation (in Stanhope, NJ) is excited to open it's gates. For less than ten dollars per person, you can bring your whole unit to camp for the weekend. Explore the many hiking trails around camp, spend the afternoon fishing, and make lifelong memories around the campfire.
Year-Round Activities & Rentals
Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation (comprised of Camp Somers and Camp Wheeler) is available for weekend hiking and camping. Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation offers many activities for your group to have an awesome weekend. On-site activities (advance reservations required) include COPE, climbing, ATVs, and shooting sports for Scouts and non-Scouts and scheduled Saturday programs for Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts. The reservation is within traveling distance to major ski resorts, a tubing park, and other area attractions.
There are many tent sites and cabins for rent. The bath and shower house at Camp Somers is open year round.
Backwoods Engineering is an awesome year-round program where campers can practice pioneering skills and learn engineering principles. Participants have a great time while building large and exciting pioneering projects. Some of what we build includes towers, large bridges, cranes, paddlewheel rafts, aerial runways, trebuchets, and lots more.
Camp Somers is proud to offer COPE (challenging outdoor personal experience) and climbing challenges for individuals and groups. You don’t need to be a member of Scouts BSA to enjoy our outstanding programs! Nestled between Mount Allamuchy State Park and Stephens State Park, Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation is one of few Scout camps on the east coast that has natural rock climbing. With almost a thousand acres of property, there are climbing areas to meet any groups’ ability level. The camp boasts one of the most extensive COPE courses in the region.
This is an area focused on mentorship style merit badges. Traditionally badges are conducted through group sessions where multiple Scouts work on requirements in a structured environment. Eagle’s Nest requires Scouts to work on their own, offering opportunities for exploration and research on a topic not normally available in structured sessions. Experienced Merit Badge Counselors are available to guide Scouts through their badge’s topic while adding instruction and supporting personal interests.
We have ranges for .22 cal. single shot rifles, 12- and 20-gauge shotguns, BB guns, and archery. The ranges and all necessary equipment may be rented by units who can provide certified instructors. The camps can also provide certified instructors for all programs at our ranges. Instructors are assigned based on their personal availability.
